Aerocene Flies at Forest of Imagination 2017

The schools of art, architecture and science collided when Forest of Imagination launched the spectacular floating Aerocene sculpture during Forest of Imagination 2017.

The sculpture flew high above Bushey Norwood, using wind currents and the heat of the sun, this incredible air-fuelled sculpture reached up to eight metres in size and was completely emission free.

The Aerocene Project, is a remarkable exploration into navigation, architecture, the future of human habitation and the environment, designed by the Argentinian artist Tomas Saraceno, one of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, and loaned to the event by the Aerocene Foundation.

Widely regarded as the one of the most famous Latin American artists on the contemporary art scene, Tomás Saraceno’s work focuses on re-imagining how human beings could navigate around the world in the future using the jet stream highways in the sky.

The landscape’s ancient trees, wooded dells and meadows all called for exploration. Many visitors to the event have remarked on how the beautiful walks between the installations were an integral part of the creative Forest experience.
